Superintendent Search - Next Steps

The Board met yesterday to discuss the next steps in replacing Dr. Cherniss. Board President Ami Gandhi sent an email summary to the community yesterday, which I am copying and pasting here in case you have not seen it:

“Today on Monday April 17th, PVPUSD Board of Education met during a special meeting to discuss the Superintendent hiring process. This process will occur in multiple stages, beginning with the appointment of an interim superintendent as a short-term goal over the next few weeks.
Additionally, the Board will work closely with a search firm to select a permanent Superintendent; ideally, this person will be in place for fall of 2023. This process with start by getting community feedback from all stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive process takes place. Over the course of the next few months, the Board will receive and evaluate all community input, thoroughly review potential candidates, conduct interviews, and ultimately select the new Superintendent.
Our Board is confident that we will find an excellent replacement for Dr. Cherniss and our District will be as strong as ever. PVPUSD is a high performing District, and the Board will move forward with the best interest of our community in mind. Thank you to all staff and PVPUSD families for your continued support of our students.
Ami Gandhi | Board President
Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District”

Stay tuned for more updates.
